Madison firefighters returned from State Fire School in Yankton with not only a first-place overall trophy, but also first-place trophies for each individual contest.
Madison competed against Avon and Beresford in the five-man evolution contest in Yankton last week. The contests are held prior to State Fire School each spring. Competing for Madison were Wade Bialas, Sid Gulbranson, Chad Larson, Derrick Shoenrock, Justin Olson, Kyle Stoebner, Shawn Wise and Fire Chief Randy Minnaert.
Minnaert said that four separate races were held where a team of five raced to connect hoses together, set up ladders and shoot targets.
