Chester Area School will hold a June 18 election to determine the three district residents who will sit on the school board. Six petitions have been filed for three open seats on the board.
Chester Business Manager Kristi Lewis said petitions have been turned in by Nancy Meyer of Wentworth and Janet Park, Joann Alverson, Deanna Reiff, Janel Brown and Kathy Goodale, all of Chester.
Park and Meyer have both served on the board since 1998. Goodale has been a member of the board since elected in 2010.
Absentee voting for this election begins June 3. Voting takes place in the lobby of the Chester Area School.
The deadline to file petitions for the Chester School Board was Monday (today) because the business office was closed on Friday. Lewis said she's not aware of any other petitions circulating.
In the Oldham-Ramona and Rutland school districts, the deadline to file petitions was Friday. Oldham-Ramona has one open seat. As of Friday, no petitions had been filed for the seat currently held by Larry Malcomb.
Rutland has four vacancies on the board currently held by Steve Jaton, Billie Hoekman, Terry Wicks and Brooke Albertson. Wicks and Hoekman joined the board in 2010. Albertson and Jaton were both appointed to fill the balance of two vacated seats in 2011.
Rutland Business Manager Crystal Hansen said all four incumbents had filed petitions by Friday's deadline.
