Madison Church Women United will be presenting the bi-annual celebration of World Community Day on Friday at the United Methodist Church.
The event will start with a soup luncheon at 11:45 a.m.; the cost is $3.50 per person. The program begins at 12:30 p.m. The theme for the day will be "Walking through the doors of Opportunity."
The event will be held in the Fellowship Hall, which is handicap-accessible. The host will be St. Thomas Church.
The speaker will be The Rev. Barry Whipkey, who will talk about opportunities as shown in the bible and in the world today. Many people have obstacles and barriers in their lives daily, so the event will help find ways to tackle and overcome those barriers. Attendees will join together for discussion and reflections on this topic.
Church Women United is an ecumenical group of women who hold celebrations to bring attention to women's issues around the world.
The Madison Church Women United board consists of representatives from seven churches in Lake County. More churches are welcome to join the board. All are welcome to attend, men and women alike.
