The Madison Broncos erupted for six runs in the first inning and never looked back in posting their seventh win of the season on Sunday at Colman.
Madison rolled to an 11-2 win over the A's in Cornbelt League action to remain unbeaten in league play.
Eleven batters stepped to the plate for the Broncos in the top of the first inning against the A's. Madison had four singles and four walks in the inning. Brian Miller had a two-RBI single while Nick Bird added an RBI single for the Broncos in the frame.
Madison scored twice in the second inning. Bird had an RBI double and Jordan Brown added an RBI single as Madison built an 8-0 lead.
The Broncos built their lead to 10-0 in the third inning when they scored two more times. Miller blasted a two-RBI double and Bird had another RBI single for the Broncos.
Neither team scored again until the sixth inning. Colman pushed one run across the plate to make the score read 10-1.
Madison tacked another run on the board in the eighth inning to gain an 11-1 lead. With two outs, Greg Biagi smacked a double. He scored on a single by Doug Iverson.
The A's scored once in the eighth inning to make the final score read 11-2.
Madison outhit Colman 14-5. Miller had an outstanding game at the plate with two doubles, two singles and three RBIs. Bird had a double, two singles and three RBIs for the Broncos.
Biagi had a double and a single while Jordan Brown smacked two singles. Iverson, Eric Hortness and Trevor Johnson each had a single for the winners.
Ray Wagner started on the mound for the Broncos and pitched six innings to pick up the win. He allowed four hits, one run, struck out two batters and walked two.
Brock Selgestad finished on the hill for the Broncos. He pitched three innings, allowed one hit and one run, had five strikeouts and walked three batters.
Madison (6-0 in CBL play and 7-2 overall) will go to Lennox on Thursday night for a CBL showdown starting at 7:30 p.m.. Madison beat Lennox 4-0 earlier this season.
