Madison rolls, Milne's hot in playoffs

The Madison Bulldogs scored four touchdowns on five plays to begin the playoffs and whitewashed the Milbank Bulldogs 55-0 at Trojan Field on Tuesday night.|
Madison scored on its first three plays from scrimmage. Rush Milne broke loose for a 77-yard touchdown on the first play of the game for Madison. With the extra-point kick by Brayden Gilbert, Madison enjoyed a 7-0 lead.
Bradyn Steffen intercepted a Milbank pass and returned it to Milbank's 3 yard line. One play later, Milne had his second touchdown of the night; with the extra-point kick by Gilbert, Madison led 14-0.
On Madison's next possession, Jacob Giles tossed a 31-yard pass to Milne for the third touchdown with 9:15 left in the opening period. Gilbert added the extra point and the Bulldogs were up 21-0.
Giles hooked up with Milne again for a 51-yard scoring strike on the next possession. The scoring drive consisted of two plays and 51 yards. Gilbert tacked on the extra point and the Bulldogs held a 28-0 lead with less than six minutes being played.
The scoring was not done in the opening period. The next score came from Madison's defense. Preston Nordling picked off an Isaac Snaza pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown. Gilbert booted the extra point and Madison held a 35-0 advantage.
Madison added one more touchdown before the quarter came to an end. Milne scored his fifth touchdown of the first quarter on an 11-yard run. The touchdown run capped off a four-play, 33-yard scoring drive. With the extra point by Gilbert, Madison held a 42-0 lead with 2:00 still remaining in the first quarter.
Madison scored twice in the second period. Isaac Schubert scored on a two-yard run with 11:47 left in the period. Gilbert added the extra point and Madison had a 49-0 advantage. Schubert's touchdown capped off a four-play, 47-yard drive.
Brodie Frederiksen sealed the game for Madison. He capped off a 10-play, 54-yard scoring drive with a seven-yard touchdown run with 6:04 left in the second period to give Madison a 55-0 lead, and eventually the win, when the first half came to a close.
Madison rolled up 341 total yards, 259 rushing and 82 passing. Milne carried the ball five times for 94 yards. Mitch Hansen rushed for 62 yards on nine attempts while Schubert had 45 yards on three carries.
Giles was 2-of-3 passing for 82 yards. Milne caught two passes for 82 yards.
Milbank could muster only 58 total yards, 47 rushing and 11 passing. Dylan Fox had 18 yards rushing on two carries. Snaza was 3-of-11 passing with four interceptions for 11 yards. Fox caught one pass for 17 yards.
Hansen had three unassisted tackles and three assisted tackles for Madison. Marcus Vanden Bosch had two unassisted tackles and one assisted tackle; Josh Lentsch and Mason Leighton each added two unassisted tackles.
Nordling, Steffen, Heith Williams and Brady Balogh all had one interception for Madison.
Snaza had eight unassisted tackles and one assisted tackle.
Madison (9-0) will move on in the playoffs and will host Vermillion on Monday night. The Tanagers upset Dakota Valley 8-0.
