Lake County Sheriff Tim Walburg reported Wednesday (today) that his office had heard of few weather-related problems during the daylight hours of Tuesday for area motorists.
According to Walburg, one vehicle went into a ditch Tuesday morning about 3 miles east of Madison.
However, motorists started having problems on area highways as nighttime arrived. Walburg said his department received three reports of vehicles in the ditches along SD-34 east and west of Madison, and another vehicle went off the roadway on US-81 about 8 miles north of Madison.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office had received no new reports by midmorning Wednesday. Walburg cautioned drivers that area roads are snow- and ice-packed, conditions that will continue to make driving difficult.
"With the forecast of the wind picking up more today, driving conditions are going to worsen again for the commute home for travelers," Walburg said.
Within Madison's city limits, the police department reported that blizzard-related problems have remained at a minimum for motorists and city residents.
