On Thursday, personnel with the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to an emergency call at 11:20 a.m. of a possible accident involving a car that was burning at a location south of Madison along 455th Ave. between 238th and 237th streets.
Sheriff Tim Walburg reported that when deputies arrived they found a car that had been burned parked in a ditch at a spot where the grass was still on fire.
Madison firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could create additional serious property damage.
Later, authorities were able to locate and arrest one suspect for other offenses not connected to the fire.
Walburg reported Friday that the investigation remains active to determine what happened and the cause of the fire.
The other agencies that responded to the emergency call included the Madison Fire Department, Madison Ambulance and Lake County Search and Rescue.
