A Colman man died on Sunday when the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer on I-29 near the Trent exit between Flandreau and Dell Rapids.
Jason Dereck Lee, 41, was driving a 1992 Harley Davidson FLSTC motorcycle northbound near mile marker 103 when a deer entered the roadway. The collision occurred at about 1 p.m. on the interstate highway.
Lee's motorcycle struck the deer, tipped over and skidded on its side into the east ditch. Lee -- who wasn't wearing a helmet -- was pronounced dead at the scene.
No further information was immediately available. The South Dakota Highway Patrol continued investigating the accident on Sunday.
The Moody County Sheriff's Office, Flandreau Ambulance and Colman Fire Department assisted in handling the emergency call.
