Madison, Brookings consider landfill agreement
By CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter 08/17/2012
The Madison City Commission will review a proposed agreement between Madison and Brookings that will allow Madison to use the other city's landfill when the commissioners meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at City Hall.

The two cities have arranged a three-year agreement for Madison to haul its solid waste to the Brookings landfill. The city commissioners will consider authorizing the mayor to sign the agreement.

In other business, the commissioners will consider:

-- Hearing a proposal from the Madison Police Department concerning no parking near the Madison Middle School.

-- Acknowledging a liability inspection report made by Safety Benefits Inc.

-- Authorizing the mayor to sign an airport grant agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration.

-- Creating a downtown improvement reserve fund containing $47,000.

The commissioners have also scheduled a budget meeting to follow their regular weekly meeting.
