The Lake County Sheriff's Department handled the report of a two-vehicle accident early Saturday afternoon that occurred near the parking lot entrance to Prairie Village.
Matthew S. Tweet, 20, of Wentworth was westbound on SD-34 at 1:55 p.m. about 1/3-mile east of 452nd Ave. when he attempted a right turn into a driveway. Tweet was driving alone in a 2006 GMC 2500 pickup when he tried to turn into a residence.
Connie Lou Pardy, 73, of Howard was also driving west alone at about 40 mph on the highway's shoulder. Officials were directing westbound traffic onto the shoulder due to the heavy traffic caused by the Prairie Village threshing jamboree.
In making his turn, Tweet hit Pardy's 2003 Honda Accord.
Damage to the GMC pickup was estimated at $5,910, and damage to the accord was estimated at $6,219.
A mailbox owned by William Schwebach was also damaged.
