Toledo sentenced to jail
By CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter 11/20/2012
Jose Ramon Toledo, 52, was sentenced to 30 days of jail time and was ordered to pay $3,500 in fines on charges of forgery, making a false statement, and petty theft in Third Circuit Court.

Toledo was sentenced to one year each on the two felony charges with all but 30 days suspended for his incarceration time on each of the charges. He was allowed to serve the two jail sentences concurrently. Toledo was also ordered to pay $3,000 in fines for the felony convictions.

On the misdemeanor petty theft charge, Judge Tim D. Tucker ordered Toledo to pay a $500 fine.

Tucker granted work release during his jail sentence, but told Toledo that he would need to pay $65 per day if Toledo served his jail sentence in Brookings.

Toledo was arrested on Sept. 20 and was released on a $5,000 bond to await trial.
