Madison Middle School students including (left) Adam Hoffman, Emma Brandenburger, Taylor Gerry, Mitch Selgestad, Stormy Mette and Josh Bernard are collecting new and used greeting cards to be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
The seventh-graders at Madison Middle School have begun a service project to collect new and used greeting cards.
The cards will be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, an organization that cares for abused, neglected and/or abandoned children. St. Jude's then recycles the cards and new ones are made. The new cards are sold to help fund St. Jude's programs.
Collection boxes have been set up around Madison, including at MMS, Sunshine Foods, Shopko and McDonald's. Boxes will remain at these locations through Jan. 31.
Cards to be donated can be used or new and may be any type of greeting card: Christmas, birthday, thank-you, anniversary, etc. Cards that are 5x7 inches or smaller work the best.
Only the front of the card is used; make sure there is no writing on the back side.
No Disney, Hallmark or American Greeting cards can be accepted.
