Firemen answer rural call
By CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter 01/17/2013
The Madison Fire Department sent three fire trucks Wednesday evening to a rural site about 9 miles south of Madison to extinguish a controlled burn site.

Fire Chief Randy Minnaert reported that his firefighters received the emergency call at about 5:30 p.m. and they were sent to 24255 453rd St. in Orland Township.

Minnaert said a farmer had created a burn site for dead trees and junked wood, but there was a premature start in burning the material. Firefighters kept the fire from spreading to a rural residence.

No injuries or major property damage were reported.
