Chester to accept contract for new superintendent
By ELISA SAND, Staff Reporter 02/08/2013
The Chester School Board will officially accept a contract next week with Heath Larson as school superintendent.

Larson is currently the elementary principal at Buchanan Elementary School in Pierre. He's been principal there since 2005 and previously taught at Brookings and Colman-Egan. Larson starts post at Chester July 1.

Current Superintendent Mark Greguson is moving to a new position within the school district. As of July 1, he will be online education services director.

The school board meets on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Larson was one of three candidates interviewed for the position and among 11 applicants.

The business manager intends to discuss both the superintendent's contract and the declaration of 45 desktop computers as surplus property.

Elementary Principal Faith Stratton plans to discuss elementary teacher evaluations, a change with parent/teacher conferences and information on the teacher inservice.

High School Principal Mike Reinhiller will discuss secondary teacher evaluations, teacher inservice information and athletic alignments.

Greguson plans to discuss the March planning meeting date and provide a legislative update.

The school board intends to go into closed session to discuss a personnel matter.
