By ELISA SAND, Staff Reporter 02/15/2013
Lake County will hold several county commission interviews
in closed session Tuesday morning to determine who will be
appointed to the board.

Commissioner Chris Giles has been appointed state's attorney effective March 4. Current State's Attorney Ken Meyer announced he was stepping down in March to work for his family's company -- AH Meyer and Sons in Winfred.

Commissioners elected to take letters of interest from
parties wishing to fill Giles' seat until Jan. 2015. The
remaining two years of the commissioner and state's attorney terms will be determined by election in 2014. The county received a total of 14 letters of interest and plans to hold brief interviews in closed session with each candidate Tuesday beginning at 10:45 a.m. A second closed session for personnel purposes is planned at 9:45 a.m.

The county commission meeting begins at 9 a.m. Other
appointments are as follows:

-- 9:10 a.m., Welfare Manager Peggy Young, indigent
application.

-- 9:15 a.m., Emergency Management Director Don Thomson,
