The Madison City Commission will acknowledge that city officials have received a referendum petition regarding a recently-passed special maintenance fee when it meets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at City Hall.
The city finance office had received earlier this week petitions to hold a special election, referring to a vote a new maintenance fee that would help pay for street maintenance and repair.
The new fee would amount to $1 per foot on property located along municipal roadways.
In other business, the commissioners will consider:
-- Approving a plat of Tract 1 in Wenk's Addition.
-- Reviewing the extension of a $225,000 secured loan made to Rosebud Manufacturing Company.
-- Authorizing the mayor to sign a letter to the South Dakota Department of Transportation regarding the establishment of a recreational trail from Madison to Lake Herman.
-- Reviewing a proposed 2014-18 infrastructure improvement plan for Madison.
The commissioners have also scheduled an executive session regarding a consultation with legal counsel about proposed or pending litigation or contractual matters.
