The Lake County Sheriff's Office and other emergency personnel responded to a motorcycle-deer accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon southwest of Madison on the road to Lake Herman State Park.
At about 4:45 p.m., Darrin Eichacker, 28, of Sioux Falls was riding a 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on 234th St. about 1/2-mile west of its intersection with 454th Ave., when a deer crossed the roadway in front of his motorcycle.
Sheriff Tim Walburg reported that Eichacker braked to avoid the deer and tipped his motorcycle on its side. He received minor injuries but wasn't transported to the hospital.
Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $3,500.
Other agencies responding to the accident included the Madison Police Department, Madison Fire Department and Lake County Search & Rescue.
