Peter Pan, the Darling family, the Lost Boys, Captain Hook and the many characters they come in contact with in Neverland are making an appearance on July 19-20 at 7 p.m. and July 21 at 2 p.m. at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse in Madison.
Dakota State University Theatre and Madison area community members are presenting "Peter Pan," a story about never-ending youth and knowing the joys of family and friends.
For DSU Theatre Director Kelly MacLeod, this is her first summer production in Madison.
"There was a great mix of about 44 community members, DSU students and alumni, and families of DSU faculty and staff who attended the Peter Pan audition," said MacLeod. "There is definitely a need and desire for summer community theatre in Madison."
Not only do DSU and Madison area community members act in the play, they also play a vital role in preparation for the event. The building of the set, collection of props, special effects and sewing of the costumes are just a few of the opportunities available to assist in the production. Backstage help to make the performances run smoothly is also important to make the theatre collaboration a success.
"As usual, thank you so much to the DSU and Madison community for the wonderful, wonderful support," said MacLeod. "We are looking forward to seeing you all in Neverland."
