The Madison City Commission will consider signing letters of support for continued federal funding of construction of the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System when it meets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at City Hall.
The city commissioners will review letters that are addressed to the White House, Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Lamar Alexander of the Senate Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, and Reps. Rodney Frelinghuysen and Marcy Kaptur of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development.
The letters inform federal officials that the Missouri River water project is currently dependent on federal funding. They also state that a lack of substantial federal funding has meant that the project cannot initiate any construction in either 2013 or 2014.
The commissioners will also consider a wellness studio agreement with The Community Center, an application to occupy a right of way submitted by SDN Communications, and six deadline extension requests from property owners who were expected to install sidewalks this summer.
