Nikolas Killion, 28, of Madison was arrested on several charges, including reckless driving, after his involvement in an automobile accident this week.
Sheriff Tim Walburg reported that personnel from the Lake County Sheriff's Department were called at 6:42 p.m. on Sunday to a one-vehicle accident scene on Bayview Lane along Lake Madison.
Investigators determined that Killion was traveling at a high rate of speed in a 2001 Saturn automobile that was headed north on Bayview Lane. They reported that Killion swerved to miss a speed bump and lost control of the vehicle.
The Saturn started to skid toward a house, but Killion was able to stop the vehicle before hitting the structure. Then Killion tried to drive the car in reverse, but he struck and broke two yard posts. He also damaged a window on the vehicle, which is owned by another person.
Walburg reported that Killion fled the scene of the accident. He was later arrested for a parole violation. Killion was also charged with reckless driving and failing to report an accident involving property damage.
The Sheriff's Office reported that alcohol was a factor in the accident.
