The Madison City Commission on Thursday will consider approving a joint powers agreement with Lake County officials for the construction of a recreational trail from Madison to Lake Herman.
The city commissioners rescheduled their weekly meeting to Thursday due to the Labor Day holiday, and the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. or soon afterward when the commissioners can gather at City Hall following the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Madison Community Hospital.
The commissioners have scheduled a hearing at 5:35 p.m. to review a license transfer application from J Olson Enterprises - Cherry Lanes to the Cherry Bar and Ronald Beckman. They will also review an application from Beckman to operate video lottery machines.
They commissioners will consider approving a second tax increment district created by Lake County officials and authorizing the mayor to sign a professional services agreement with HR Green of Sioux Falls for the design of water and sewer systems along SD-34 between Highland and Washington avenues.
They will also consider appointing Jean Stemper to the Madison Housing and Redevelopment Commission.
The commissioners also scheduled an executive session to discuss with legal counsel about proposed or pending litigation or contractual matters.
After adjourning from their regular weekly meeting, the commissioners will hold a second meeting on the 2014 municipal budget.
