    Madison sweeps both titles at Region 3A meet

    The Madison track and field teams made a huge statement at the Region 3A Meet held in Dell Rapids on Thursday. Both teams ran away from a solid field to win the Region titles.

    In the boys portion of the meet the Bulldogs racked up 218.50 points to claim the team title. Following the Bulldogs were Dell Rapids with 164.50, Sioux Falls Christian 94, Garretson 70, Flandreau 68.50, Baltic 56.50 and Elkton-Lake Benton 48.

    The Bulldogs racked up nine first place finishes in the meet. Chris Nielsen captured three individual first place medals in the 100 (10.60), 200 (22.30), 400 (49.90) and he was on the winning 800-meter relay with D'Artist Williams, Tayler Anderson and Rush Milne, they crossed the finish line in 1:30.70.

    Hunter Streff won two events at the Region Meet. He captured the 1600-meter run (4:47.40) and the 3200-meter run (10:47.70).

    Brendan Waldner picked up a first place win in the 300-meter hurdle race when he crossed the finish line in 42.50-seconds.

    With a vault of 11-feet-0, Trevor Holbrook won the pole vault event.
    The foursome of Jacob Giles, Tyler Lentsch, Streff and Luke Zingmark ran to a first place finish in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 8:37.90.
    In the girls portion of the meet the Lady Bulldogs racked up 220 points to claim the team title. Following the Lady Bulldogs were Sioux Falls Christian 127, Elkton-Lake Benton 116.50, Dell Rapids 109.50, Garretson 86, Baltic 36 and Flandreau 26.

    The Lady Bulldogs racked up 10 first-place finishes in the meet. Winning individual events were Lexi Finck in the 400 (59.70).

    Emily Hawkes won the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:31.50.

    Hailey Streff won the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:39.70.

    Laura Blom continued her outstanding year in the 100-meter hurdles winning that race in a time of 15.12-seconds.

    Danielle Bloom crossed the finish line first in the 300-meter hurdle race with a time of 49.70.

    Ashley Schwebach won the pole vault with a vault of 8-feet-09.

    Coley Stoller won the triple jump with a leap of 36-feet-10.50.

    Ashley Currey won the shot put with a toss of 35-feet-08.50.

    Madison had two relay teams that crossed the finish line first. The 400-meter relay team of Blom, Michaela Duff, Finck and Stoller crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 51.40-seconds.

    The foursome of Madison Nipe, Streff, Bloom and Hawkes won the 3200-meter relay race with a time of 10:09.50.

    The next meet for Madison will be the State Meet at Spearfish on Friday and Rapid City on Saturday.
