Bulldogs score season high in seventh win, beat FIS

The Madison Bulldogs jumped out to a 26-7 lead after one period and went on to post an 88-32 win over the Flandreau Indian School on Tuesday night at Flandreau.
Madison held a 56-16 halftime lead.
"We had a great start to the game," said Madison Coach Michael Ricke. "Our defensive pressure forced FIS into several early turnovers that we were able to convert into points."
Madison made 32 of 73 field goals, 44 percent, and 24 of 34 free throws, 71 percent. FIS made 13 of 51 field goals, 25 percent, and 3-of-8 free throws, 38 percent.
"I was pleased with the foul shooting," Ricke said. "Braxton Olson was 5-for-5 from the line and continues to lead us in foul shooting on the season, making 75 percent of his attempts. It is nice to see the team's free throw average start to climb back up to where we want it."
The Bulldogs held a huge advantage on the boards 45-24.
Madison had four players who hit double digits. Trae VandeBerg tossed in 16 points, Tyler Wiebe scored 13, Mason Sullivan added 12 and Rush Milne chipped in with 11.
"We scored a lot of points in this game, considering we didn't hit a single 3-pointer," Ricke said. "We haven't shot well from beyond the arc all year, but we have some good shooters on this team. I believe we will eventually break out of that slump, and when we do, we'll be an even more dangerous team."
Wiebe and Jesse Brown each pulled down eight rebounds while Olson snared seven.
Griffin Cross scored 11 points for FIS. Ruben Crow Feather pulled down five rebounds.
Madison (7-1) will swing back into action on Thursday with a home contest against the Dell Rapids Quarriers. The game will be played at the Dakota State University Fieldhouse at 7:45 p.m.
JVs roll to victory
Madison's junior varsity team raced to a 50-16 win over the Flandreau Indian School. Danny Klosterman scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds for the winners.
Tayler Anderson added nine points and four rebounds. Jacob Leighton had five assists and two steals.
