For the second straight game, the Madison Lady Bulldogs' shooting woes continued on Monday night at Lennox. The Lennox Orioles cruised to an easy 60-24 Big 8 Conference win.
"We have come out flat at the beginning of our last two games," said Madison coach Adam Ericsson. "Our mental preparation is not where it should be for the stage of the season. We need to rededicate ourselves to playing basketball in a winning way."
The Lady Bulldogs hit just 3-of-36 field goals. Madison connected on 17 of 22 free throws, 77 percent. Lennox made 23 of 56 field goals, 41 percent, and 10 of 14 free throws, 71 percent.
Lennox held the advantage on the boards 28-20.
Madison Nipe scored nine points to lead the Lady Bulldogs while Danielle Roemen added eight counters. Marinda Kern snared six rebounds.
Kayla Kruse tossed in 19 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to pace the Orioles. Jessica Herrboldt added 10 points.
SFC 66, Madison 28
Sioux Falls Christian raced to a 21-4 first-quarter lead and never looked back in posting a 66-28 win over the Lady Bulldogs on Friday.
Madison made 8-of-68 field goals, 11 percent, and hit 12-of-19 free throws, 63 percent. SFC made 30 of 70 field goals, 42 percent and made 5-of-9 free throws, 55 percent.
SFC held the edge on the boards, 37-32.
Skluzacek tossed in nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace the Lady Bulldogs. Roemen added seven points.
Hayley McCarron pumped in 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to pace the Chargers. Kara Koth added 10 points for the winners.
Madison (3-9 overall and 1-4 in Big 8 play) will swing back into action on Thursday night. The Lady Bulldogs go to Harrisburg for the Big 8 contest with the tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
