Trojans shatter softball records

Seven Dakota State University softball players are listed in the school record book after the completion of the 2013 season. In addition, the Trojans set two new team records.|
Two-time All-Conference selection Brittany Hill (sophomore third baseman from Chino, Calif.) set a record for batting average in a single season. She produced a batting average of .500 (59 hits in 118 plate appearances) in 34 games, beating the old record set by Jennifer Garst with a .461 in 2004.
Hill is second in the record book for single season slugging percentage of .720 (.806 is the record by Garst in 2004) and fourth for most hits in a season with 59 (66 is the record set by Allison Hubers in 2006). She holds DSU's record for career batting average of .469. Hill amassed 114 hits in 243 at-bats through her first two seasons at DSU (Hubers is second, .422, 2005-06).
Hill is the leader in career slugging percentage of .695 (.655 by Garst, 2002-05). Hill tied the school record for most triples in a game with four others. She smashed two triples in a 7-3 victory over McPherson (Kan.) on March 8.
Samantha Deen (2013 All-Conference selection), a junior pitcher from Afton, Mo., set a school record for most strikeouts in a game. She recorded 14 strikeouts in a 4-1 victory at Presentation College on April 26. The previous record was set by Garst with 12 strikeouts in 2005.
Katie Slibowski, a junior pitcher/infielder from Lathrop, Mo., scored four times in a game on March 6, which tied the school record.
Slibowski recorded the second most strikeouts in a season with 109. Garst currently holds the record of 116 strikeouts.
Chelsey John (junior infielder, Pleasant Grove, Utah) swiped four bases in a game on March 7, which tied the school record for most stolen bases in a game.
Elizabeth Rubalcava (2013 All-Conference selection), a freshman catcher from Pomona, Calif., produced the second best fielding percentage in a season of .986. Ashlee Kirschenman holds the record of .990.
The Trojans set a record for most strikeouts in a game with 14 strikeouts at Presentation on April 26. DSU recorded a single season batting average of .337, breaking the record of .334 set in 2006.
DSU set a record with a .404 on-base percentage, breaking the record of .395 set in 2006.
The Trojans tied the school record in a game for most stolen bases with nine.
DSU accumulated 179 strikeouts, four short of tying the school record; and produced a slugging percentage of .453 in 2013 (.476 is the record, set in 2011).
