Madison Post 25 finishes season with 13-5 record; Flandreau wins Legion Region

Madison's Post 25 American Legion Baseball team was eliminated from the Region 2B Tournament on Saturday after dropping two heartbreakers to Garretson and Flandreau at Flynn Field.|
Flandreau won the region tournament and Garretson placed second.
Playing in their second game of the day on Saturday, Post 25 was edged by Garretson 7-6 in 10 innings.
Garretson deadlocked the score at five in the ninth inning by scoring one run. Cody Bonte opened the inning for Garretson with a single and moved to third with two outs. Nick Skillman tripled to knock in Bonte and send the game into an extra inning.
Madison scored once in the top half of the 10th frame. Jacob Giles and Heith Williams drew back-to-back walks, then Jacob Leighton singled to drive in Giles for the go-ahead run.
Jesse Brockhouse and Thomas Howe hit back-to-back singles for Garretson in the 10th frame. Brockhouse scored the tying run on a passed ball. Aaron Dunn drew a walk to put runners on the corners with one out. Bonte singled to center field, driving in Howe for the game-winning run and eliminating Post 25 from postseason play.
Madison got off to a fast start and scored three runs in the first inning. Tyler Wiebe clubbed an RBI double.
Garretson scored once in the bottom of the first.
Both teams scored once in the third inning. Wiebe hit a double and later scored on a double by Bradyn Steffen.
Garretson added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to deadlock the score at four.
Post 25 added a run in the sixth frame to regain the lead. Heith Williams singled with two outs and scored on a double by Leighton to put Madison on top 5-4. Post 25 loaded the bases after Leighton's double but a strikeout ended the threat.
The score remained 5-4 until the bottom of the ninth, when Garretson scored one run.
Madison had 10 hits off three Garretson pitchers. Leighton had a double and three singles while Williams had three singles. Wiebe had two doubles and Steffen added one double.
Garretson had 13 hits off three Madison pitchers. Bonte had two doubles and three singles while Brockhouse added three singles.
Reid Guse, Brandon Burg and Leighton were on the mound for Post 25.
Brockhouse, Patrick Whethem and Bonte were on the mound for Garretson.
Flandreau 7, Madison 4
Flandreau held on for a 7-4 win over Madison in the first game of the day on Saturday. Both teams entered the contest unbeaten.
Flandreau got on the board first with four runs in the third frame. Flandreau sent eight batters to the plate and banged out four hits in the inning, including an RBI double by Mitch Foster and an RBI single by Jake Patterson.
Madison scored twice in the bottom of the third. Post 25 took advantage of one hit and an error to score the two runs.
Flandreau struck for three more runs in the fifth frame. Patterson had an RBI double.
Post 25 scored twice in the seventh frame to pull to within three, 7-4. Tyler Currey had an RBI double.
Neither team scored again in the game.
Madison banged out seven hits. Currey had a double and a single. Jacob Giles had a pair of singles while Williams, Steffen and Wiebe each had a single.
Flandreau had nine hits off three Madison hurlers. Austin Ross and Patterson each had a double and a single. Tim Parsley added two singles for Flandreau.
Giles, Guse and Burg were on the mound for Post 25.
Mitch Hansen went the distance for Flandreau.
Madison 9, Garretson 4
Madison held on to down Garretson 9-4 on Friday night in the first region tourney game for Post 25.
Post 25 built an 8-0 lead before Garretson got on the board in the fifth inning.
Giles opened the game with a single and scored on a ground-out by Wiebe.
Madison sent eight batters to the plate in the second inning and scored four times. Post 25 took advantage of two walks and two errors. Williams had an RBI single.
Madison added another run in the third inning on a Tayler Anderson RBI single.
Post 25 put two more runs on the board in the fourth frame to push the lead to 8-0.
Garretson scored twice in the fifth and added two more in the seventh to pull to within four, 8-4.
Madison added one run in the ninth frame for the final score.
Madison had seven hits. Leighton had a double and Giles had two singles. Williams, Anderson, Currey and Jordan Unterbrunner each had a single.
Leighton and Giles were on the mound for Post 25.
Madison finished the season with an impressive 13-5 overall record.
