The Madison Broncos completed an undefeated Cornbelt League season on Monday night as Madison beat Harrisburg 8-2 at Harrisburg.
Madison finished a perfect 18-0 in Cornbelt League action.
The Broncos scored twice in the second frame and added a single run in the fifth to build a 3-0 lead before Harrisburg got on the board.
Harrisburg scored once in the fifth inning. Both teams added a single run in the sixth inning.
After that it was all Madison. The Broncos scored once in the eighth and three more in the ninth to make the final score read 8-2.
Madison banged out 16 hits in the contest. Eric Hortness had a double, three singles and five RBIs to pace the Broncos offensively.
Brian Miller and Greg Biagi each had three singles. Biagi had a pair of RBIs for the winners. Mitch McNary and Trent Miller each had a double. Matt Burpee and Trevor Johnson each had two singles for the Broncos.
The Broncos committed five errors, two more than Harrisburg.
Brock Selgestad pitched seven innings and allowed four hits, two runs, two walks and struck out 10 batters to pick up the win.
Matt Schoeberl finished on the hill for the Broncos. He did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out four batters.
Madison (20-2) will head into District 4B action on Saturday at Dell Rapids. The Broncos will play the 5 p.m. game.
