Madison's Lady Bulldogs traveled to Sioux Falls to battle the No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian Chargers in a Dakota XII Conference volleyball match on Tuesday.
The Chargers outlasted the Lady Bulldogs to win the match 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-14 and 25-23).
"We struggled a bit in games one and three," said Madison Coach Jill Kratovil, "but I was very proud of the girls in games two and four."
In the fourth game, Madison was down 24-16 but fought back to 24-23.
"I knew the girls could fight back and they played hard with determination," Kratovil said. "I was really proud of how they finished the match."
From the service line, Ashley Schwebach was 15-for-15 with three aces while Coley Stoller was 12-of-12 with two aces.
Schwebach had 14 set assists while Marisa Eimers contributed six set assists.
Taylor Bird had 24 digs. Schwebach, Stoller and Preslee Jorgenson each had 10 digs.
Serena Hopf and Michaela Duff each had one solo block and two block assists.
"Serena was a wall for us in the fourth set, and Ashley stepped up defensively for us," Kratovil said. "I thought our girls are getting much better about being in the right spot on defense, and it showed in game four."
The Lady Bulldogs (2-2 overall and 1-2 in Dakota XII play) will go to Lennox for a Dakota XII contest on Thursday. Action will begin at 5 p.m.
