Two Lake County fire departments responded to a Sunday afternoon fire that destroyed a garage at a residence about 5 miles north of Madison.
Madison Fire Chief Randy Minnaert said his firefighters were called to provide mutual aid to the Ramona Fire Department at 2:41 p.m. Madison sent five fire trucks to the scene at 45239 228th St., about 1/2 mile west of US-81.
The Madison and Ramona firefighters extinguished the fire that burned a garage at the residence of Rick Becker.
Minnaert said the fire's cause was determined as embers that blew from a nearby burn barrel.
The building and its contents were a total loss, but the fire caused no injuries.
The firefighters returned to the Madison Fire Station by 5:23 p.m.
