Sheriff's office responds to two accidents
By CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter 01/07/2013
The Lake County Sheriff's Department responded to two vehicular accidents late last week.

At about noon on Saturday, Amy Janke, 34, of Madison was stopped at the intersection of US-81 and 225th St. about 7 miles north of Madison. Janke was northbound on the highway and was waiting for another vehicle to turn west onto 225th St. She was driving alone in a 2013 Ford Explorer.

Helen Syverson, 86, of Arlington was also driving alone northbound in a 2007 Buick Lucerne and came upon the intersection. Driving at about 55 mph, Syverson failed to see the other vehicles stopped at the intersection and rear-ended the Explorer, pushing it into the northeast corner of the intersection.

Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $5,000, and both the Buick and the Ford were towed at the accident scene.

Sheriff's personnel also responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on Thursday.

At about 12:30 p.m., Daniel Dannenbring, 63, of Wentworth was driving a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup westbound on 226th St. near 448th Ave. southwest of Ramona. Dannenbring was driving alone at about 50 mph when he came to the crest of a hill and his rear tires fishtailed on the roadway.

The skidding caused the pickup to slide into the south ditch and roll over.

Damage to the pickup was estimated at $1,000.
