Madison's City Finance Office reported on Tuesday (today) that Paul Michael Weist took out a petition on Monday to run as a candidate in this spring's mayoral election.
Weist is currently enrolled at Dakota State University and is the son of Madison School Board member Paul Weist.
Weist joins Myron Moen as the city residents collecting signatures to run on the April 9 ballot. Moen took out an election petition from the City Finance Office last week.
The city and Madison Central School District have agreed to hold a combined election this spring. Mayor Gene Hexom has decided not to run for another three-year term. The Madison School Board has three seats up for election this year that also have three-year terms.
The candidates have until Feb. 22 to submit a completed petition to run.
