Corbin appointed to Planning Commission
By CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter 02/19/2013
Jeremiah Corbin
Jeremiah Corbin was appointed by the Madison City Commission on Monday to fill out an unexpired term on the municipal Planning Commission.

The city commissioners approved having Corbin complete the term held by the late Eldon "Red" Beukelman, who died in January.

Corbin, a Madison native, is employed as a source water protection specialist with the South Dakota Association of Rural Water Systems, which is headquartered in Madison. He works with community officials across the state, providing advice about how they can protect and improve their water systems.

Corbin was a candidate in the 2012 city election for a seat on the city commission.

He and his wife Jill have three children, Triston, Penelope and Phoebe.

Corbin's term on the Planning Commission will continue until May 2014. The Planning Commission members serve five-year terms.

The planning commissioners offer recommendations to the city commission on zoning ordinance additions and changes. They also review applications for conditional-use permits and variances and serve as the city's board of adjustment.

The Planning Commission meets at 7 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at City Hall.
