Supporters of the Madison High School renovation project didn't receive the public support they needed during Tuesday's bond election, falling short on the vote that was finally tallied at 1,063 yes and 1,067 no.
The $16.98 million bond measure needed to garner at least 60 percent approval from school district voters in order to pass.
Total voter turnout in the Madison Central School District was 28 percent.
The vote count in the separate precincts was:
-- Ward 1 - 439 yes, 321 no
-- Ward 2 - 221 yes, 197 no
-- Ward 3 - 140 yes, 163 no
-- Rural - 263 yes, 386 no
Voter turnout in the four precincts was calculated showing Ward 1 at 26 percent, Ward 2 at 38 percent, Ward 3 at 30 percent, and Rural at 30 percent.
