Building material arrives for new high school gym
By: CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter 11/12/2012
Superintendent Vince Schaefer reported that the structural steel arrived on Monday which construction workers will use to start erecting the walls and roof to the new gym at the Madison High/Middle School complex.

Schaefer made the announcement to the members of the Madison School Board during their regular monthly meeting.

He also told the board members that the contractors will hold one of their regularly-scheduled construction meetings on Tuesday.

Schaefer told the school board that "a lot of progress is being made" and the onset of winter weather means that workers will need to enclose the new construction areas soon.

"I assume that a whole lot of work is going to take place in a hurry," Schaefer said.

Sharon Knowlton, principal at Madison High School, told the board members that on Wednesday she plans to take school faculty members on two tours of the areas at the high school that are under renovation or construction. Schaefer said members of the public are invited to join the tours that are scheduled at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Persons interested in joining one of the tours should contact the high school administration office at 256-7706 to help school staff prepare and organize the tours.
