MAYVILLE, N.D. -- The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) announced its volleyball All-Conference honors on Thursday. Senior outside hitter Kristen DiPaola of Dakota State University was selected to the A.I.I. All-Conference first team.
DiPaola had a stellar volleyball career at DSU after transferring from Trinidad State Junior College two years ago. She smashed her 1,000th career kill at DSU on Oct. 16 in the Trojans' 3-1 win over Presentation). She became the second DSU volleyball athlete to achieve thatmilestone within a span of two years (Stephanie Kruggel hit her 1,000th career kill in 2011).
DiPaola ranks second in the nation in kills per set (5.1) and third in total kills with 591. She leads both categories in the A.I.I.
DiPaola set numerous records in Trojan volleyball. She currently has the most kills in a single match with 31 and ranks second for most kills in a single season (591).
In addition, DiPaola recorded 29 service aces (0.25 aces per set), 330 digs (2.8 digs per set) and 53 total blocks (0.53 blocks per set) this season.
She is the daughter of Michael and Mary Beth DiPaola of Trinidad, Colo., and is majoring in business management.
