Coy prepares for NAIA Men's Cross Country National meet
    By NICK HUNTIMER, 11/15/2012
    Andy Coy
Andy Coy of Hill City is preparing for his final collegiate cross country meet. The Dakota State University senior will participate in the 57th annual Men's NAIA Cross Country National Championship in Vancouver, Wash., on Saturday.

Coy will be making his third consecutive appearance at the national meet. He qualified for this year's race by placing sixth with a time of 25:34 at the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) cross country championship meet on Nov. 3 in San Marcos, Calif.

Coy earned his third All-Conference honor during his stellar running career at DSU.

The 32-team men's field features 21 conference/independent/unaffiliated group champions, one conference/independent/unaffiliated group runnerup and nine at-large selections. Concordia (Ore.) received a host berth to the event. There are also 105 individual qualifiers.

Coy looks to improve his career-best national place finish from last year's meet, where he was 84th with a time of 25:37 seconds. In 2010 national meet, Coy placed 92nd in 26:31.

The awards ceremony of the NAIA National Cross Country Championships has been added to the web streaming schedule for the first time. After the team and individual champions are crowned, the awards ceremony will be streamed live at approximately 2:30 p.m. PST (4:30 p.m. CST) on Saturday.
