Military appreciation event planned for Saturday
By Staff 01/03/2013
A military appreciation event will take place Saturday at the Madison Community Center's multi-purpose gym.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with refreshments served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

An obstacle course will be set up in the gym and other children's activities are planned. A member of the 211th Engineer Battalion Sapper will also share his experiences on Saturday.

Participants in Leadership Madison are tasked with developing a community service project. This event is sponsored by one of the Leadership Madison groups.

"When the military is deployed everyone steps up and helps out. After they come back, the support is still there, but not as much. We wanted to do an event to let the military know that we appreciate them," group member Amanda Stade said.

Military personnel and their immediate families will also receive free entrance at the DSU basketball game Saturday at 4 p.m. A special recognition will also take place at the game.
