The Madison gymnastics team started the 2013 portion of the schedule at the Sioux Falls O'Gorman triangular on Thursday night and won the triangular with 138.75 points.
Following Madison were O'Gorman with 136.2 points and Hendricks, Minn., 127.55.
Madison had three gymnasts place in the all-around competition. Lexi Finck was third with a 35.40, Jenni Giles fourth with a 34.9, and Abby Christianson fifth with a 34.45.
Finck placed first in the floor exercise with a 9.45, second on the vault with a 9.25 and fourth on the beam with an 8.55.
Giles placed first on the beam with a 9.2 and fourth in the floor exercise with an 8.95.
Christianson placed second on the uneven bars with an 8.95 and third on the vault with a 9.10.
"The girls practiced really hard over the break and were able to show some of the skills they mastered," said Madison Coach Maridee Dossett. "Lexi continues to be a solid leader for us."
Shania Schwebach placed fifth in the floor exercise with an 8.90.
"The gap continues to close more between our junior varsity and varsity gymnasts," Dossett said. "We earned several state-qualifying scores and hope to do the same in Brookings on Saturday."
The beam is still a struggle for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs will be at the Brookings Invitational on Saturday with action getting started at noon.
Junior varsity rolls to title
The Madison junior varsity team won the team title with 112.6 points. Following the Lady Bulldogs were O'Gorman 99.2 and Hendricks 79.
Madison had just one gymnast finish in the all-around. Harly Koenig placed fourth with 24.55 points. She also placed fifth in the vault with an 8.0.
Schwebach placed first on the vault with an 8.85.
Kenzie Jorgenson placed first on the uneven bars, 7.5; first on the beam, 7.70; and fourth in the floor exercise, 7.6.
Tess Pifer placed second in the floor exercise with a 7.95 and third on the beam, 7.25.
Laurel Appelwick placed second on the vault with an 8.35. Raine Rook was fourth on the vault with an 8.15.
Kayden Eliason was second on the uneven bars with a 6.2.
Taylor Herald was fourth on the beam with a 6.5.
Meagan Champion was fifth in the floor exercise with a 7.5.
