Madison Community Hospital will hold the semi-annual blood drive on Feb. 12-13 from 7-10:30 a.m. and again from 12-2:30 p.m. The bloodmobile will be parked in the back parking lot at the hospital.
The Community Blood Bank is the blood supplier for the Madison area, so donations come back to Madison to benefit neighbors, families and friends.
Only 5 percent of the population donates blood, and 550 units of blood are required every week to meet the needs of local hospitals. Eight out of 10 people will require blood or blood products in their lifetime.
The minimum age to donate blood is 17 years. Donors must be in good health with no cold or sore throat, weigh at least 110 pounds, and eat a good meal before donating. Donors must avoid energy drinks prior to donating.
Donors must bring an ID card to the blood drive. The entire process takes less than 30 minutes.
To reserve a time to donate blood, call 256-6811. Walk-ins are welcome.
Pizza Ranch coupons will be given with each donation.
