Green breaks two records at O'Gorman meet
By LARRY LEEDS, Sports Editor 01/29/2013
Twelve Madison powerlifters competed at the 10th annual O'Gorman Powerlifting Meet on Saturday in Sioux Falls.

Madison finished fifth in the team division. Sioux Falls O'Gorman won the meet, followed by Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Dell Rapids, Mitchell and Madison.

Three Madison lifters placed in their division. Matt Green had an outstanding meet. He placed first in the 132-pound class. He tied the meet record for the squat at 335 pounds and broke the meet records for total weight lifted with 895 pounds (old mark was 830) and for co-efficient with 6.692 (old mark was 6.742).

Caleb Hawkes placed second at 123 and Trevor Holbrook placed fourth at 132.

According to Madison weightlifting coach Tom Milne, the meet was a good experience for the lifters to get ready for the State Powerlifting Meet, which will be held in Madison on March 2.
