February is "Love Your Library Month" and the Madison Public Library has much to offer.
The library will provide free coffee and treats to those who start their week at the library. Patrons who visit the library on Monday mornings in February should allow time for a hot beverage while browsing or reading.
Those who have library fines can pay them off with items for the Lake County Food Pantry. During February, the library will collect unexpired canned and boxed food items and paper products for the Food Pantry in lieu of fines. One items equals $1 in fines.
As an additional incentive to pay off fines, the library will allow anyone with no outstanding fines to check out one additional DVD or video game when they visit the library in February.
Children are invited to "Make it & Take it! Valentine Design" on Feb. 9. Children ages 3 through fifth grade will make valentines for their favorite people from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the library's meeting room.
The library will show movies in the meeting room from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Feb. 15, Feb. 18 and Feb. 27. Call 256-7525 to find out what's playing.
Beginning on Feb. 18, the children's department will host the "Let's Move South Dakota" traveling exhibit. Six fun, hands-on stations based on the "Let's Move" action steps for kids will help families and children make choices that result in good eating habits and good health.
The Madison Public Library is also giving away a Sony E-Reader next month. Adults will be eligible to register for weekly prize drawings and the grand prize drawing each time they visit the library. Weekly prizes will be new books or Chamber Bucks. All entries for the month will be in the drawing for the E-Reader on Feb. 28 at 4 p.m.
