City acknowledges annexation requests
By: CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter 02/04/2013
The Madison City Commission acknowledged during its Monday meeting receiving two annexation petitions from Madison Community Hospital and Schultz Family LLC to annex properties located south of the SD-34 on the south side of the city.

The property owners have asked the city to annex properties that make up about two-thirds of the land between the St. Thomas Cemetery and a tree shelterbelt located east of the cemetery.

David Jencks, city attorney, outlined the annexation procedures for the city commissioners that would start with a resolution of intent. After passing a resolution of intent, the city would need to schedule a hearing to discuss the details related to the annexations. After the hearing, the commissioners would need to approve an annexation resolution to complete the process.
