Madison firefighters responded to a midafternoon emergency call on Tuesday that sent them to an apartment building on N. Union Ave.
Two fire trucks were sent at about 3:15 p.m. to 113 N. Union Ave. after a resident smelled smoke. Fire Chief Randy Minnaert said that after inspecting the basement, firefighters found several wooden planks on fire.
