Firefighters called to N. Union apartments
By CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter 02/06/2013
Madison firefighters responded to a midafternoon emergency call on Tuesday that sent them to an apartment building on N. Union Ave.

Two fire trucks were sent at about 3:15 p.m. to 113 N. Union Ave. after a resident smelled smoke. Fire Chief Randy Minnaert said that after inspecting the basement, firefighters found several wooden planks on fire. According to Minnaert, the burning planks had filled the apartment building with a large amount of smoke.

Minnaert said that the cause of the fire was unknown. No injuries were reported and property damage was limited to the planks.

The firefighters returned to their station by 3:58 p.m.
