The Madison Tennis Association is under new leadership and has a new web site at www.tennismadison.com.
The MTA is a non-profit organization that operates the youth summer tennis program and promotes tennis for all ages. Roger Olson and Robb Graham are taking over the volunteer responsibilities from Jerry Johnson and Doug Sims.
The association was named the USTA association of the year in 2000, a prestigious honor. Once the snow melts, the association plans mini tennis nights on Mondays and doubles nights on Tuesdays.
Mini tennis is also new from the USTA and is for all ages. The net is smaller and is sideways across the back court; therefore, it does not require as much mobility as regular tennis.
The youth program is being updated with new offerings from the USTA. Organizers will add music, low compression balls for kids and a 10-and-under tournament on July 10.
The MTA is planning a tournament for ages 11-18, to be held on May 25. An all-ages doubles tournament will be held on May 27.
Youth can sign up for summer lessons by visiting www.tennismadison.com or can call Roger at 605-427-3391.
