The Madison City Commission approved contractors' bids on Monday for two infrastructure improvement projects that will take place this summer.
May Construction of Madison submitted a low bid of $127,800 for an electronic distribution improvement project out of a group of seven contractors who submitted bids for the project. The totals for the other six bids ranged from $182,000 to $384,700.
DGR Engineering of Rock Rapids, Iowa, reviewed the bids and recommended that May Construction should receive the contract. Chad Comes, city engineer, and Dennis Poppen, municipal electric superintendent, also supported awarding the bid to May Construction.
The city commissioners also approved a bid of $113,700 made by Johnson Brothers Excavating of Madison for a water main improvement contract. Johnson Brothers was the low bidder out of six contractors who provided bids for the project that will make improvements to the city's water system along S.E. 4th St. between Washington and Egan avenues.
The other five bids for the water main project ranged from $142,300 to $220,700.
