Lady Bulldogs have busy week on golf course

The Madison Lady Bulldogs went north to Milbank on Saturday to play in the Milbank POET Invitational at Pine Hills Course.|
Weather conditions were terrible for the golfers with 39-degree temps and northwest winds between 20-26 mph.
The Lady Bulldogs placed fourth in the tournament with a score of 396. Winning the team title was Parkston with a low score of 348. Following the Trojans were Harrisburg 392, Vermillion 394, Madison 396, Deuel 425, Milbank 425, Aberdeen Roncalli 445, Sisseton 469 and Redfield-Doland 529. Groton competed in the tournament with an incomplete team.
Madison's Mackenzie Robson placed sixth in the tourney with a score of 92 (48-44).
The Lady Bulldogs had one other golfer who placed in the top 10. Sami Langford was ninth with a score of 93 (46-47).
Sydney Gustaf fired a 104 (53-51) and placed 18th.
Taylor Bird had a 107 (56-51), Mariah Palmquist shot a 120 (58-62) and Meghan Pardy fired a 124 (67-57) to round out the Madison golfers.
Sydney Borman of Parkston was the meet medalist with a low score of 80 (41-39).
Langford wins Big 8 meet
Madison hosted the last Big 8 Conference golf meet on Friday at the Madison Country Club.
Five teams competed for the top spot with Harrisburg coming out on top. The Tigers shot a 372 to edge past the Lady Bulldogs 372 to 379. Vermillion placed third with a 398, West Central was fourth with a 407 and Lennox came in fifth with a 473.
Langford, a Madison freshman, was the meet medalist, firing an 89 for the 18-hole event. Langford shot a 41 on the front nine and followed that up with a 48 on the back nine to take individual honors.
Madison had three other golfers who placed in the top 15. Robson tied for third place with a 92. She had a 46 on both the front and back nine.
Bird, a sophomore, fired a 97 and placed ninth. She had a 46 on the front nine and a 51 on the back nine.
Gustaf fired a 101 (52-49) and Palmquist had a 108 (49-59).
In the junior varsity division, the Bulldogs placed third with a 525 in the 18-hole event.
Madison had two golfers who placed in the top 15. Pardy was seventh with a 113 (60-53). Maci Howard finished with a 122 (55-67) and placed 14th.
Also for the Bulldogs, Emily Knuths had a 138 (63-75) for 18th place, Harly Koenig shot a 152 (82-70) for 22nd place, and Raine Rook placed 23rd with a 164 (78-86).
Madison will be back on the course Thursday. The Bulldogs will go to Spring Creek for the Harrisburg Invitational. Action will get started at 8 a.m.
