The Madison City Commission approved on Monday a proposal made by officials with The Community Center to renovate the north community room on the second floor of City Hall into a wellness studio.
Aaron Walter, Community Center director, told the city commissioners that the wellness studio would provide 24-hour access to center members who would need to pay a one-time fee of $25. The $25 fee would pay for issuing an access key card that would unlock the door to the studio.
According to Walter, The Community Center was interested in outfitting the studio to meet member demand during certain times of the day (particularly from 3 to 6 p.m. during winter months) for the use of exercise equipment.
Walter said the wellness studio would currently serve as a cardiovascular fitness area, and his staff plans to have the studio operational sometime during September.
