Madison, Ramona firefighters called to chimney fire
By CHUCK CLEMENT, Staff Reporter

The Madison and Ramona fire departments were called to a rural residence at about 1 a.m. Monday northwest of Ramona to prevent major damage from a chimney fire to the house.

Madison Fire Chief Randy Minnaert reported that his department sent four fire trucks to a residence located about 6 miles northwest of Ramona at 22321 444th Ave. The Ramona Fire Department sent three additional fire trucks to the house, which was listed as the residence of Jerry Bickett.

Minnaert said the firefighters were able to contain the problem before major damage occurred to the building. No one reported any injuries from the emergency.

The Madison firefighters returned to their fire station at about 2:30 a.m.

The fire was attributed to the buildup of ash and smoke-related waste in the chimney's interior.
