| Heidelberger leads Madison branch of Homecare Services |

The company, which provides personalized in-home care, started offering services 28 years ago. Services have been available to Madison residents for more than 20 years. The Madison office serves clients in Lake, Miner and McCook counties. Heidelberger has been at her new job since November. She most recently spent time as a stay-at-home mom for her two children, but previously she worked for the Department of Social Services in the Adult Services and Aging department for 14 years. She holds a bachelor's degree in social work.
Assistant Agency Director Steve Novotny said staff members provide a host of services, from light housekeeping and home safety supervision to comprehensive care and skilled nursing services. "There's a million options in the home environment before a nursing home gets to be an option," Novotny said. Those services can be provided during the day, in the evenings or overnight. "Whatever the client needs," he said. Novotny said often times adult children are concerned about their parents and immediately think there's a need for 24-hour care at a nursing home. But after a meeting with the parents, Novotny said, some simple adjustments can be made in the house and limited care options can be implemented to create a safer environment for the clients. "What people need to recognize is that it's one-on-one care in the home solely for the person," he said. Novotny said usually family members are relieved when they realize a care provider can improve the situation by visiting a few hours during the week. "It's a simple solution," he said. Homecare Services is one of two companies in Madison that provide in-home care options. The Madison Community Hospital also provides these services.
