| DSU Poetry Slam is Feb. 21 |

It's time for the energy-packed, competitive repertoire of the DSU Poetry Slam.
Participants are encouraged to bring their best love or hate or love/hate poetry and compete! The event is free to attend and registration begins at 6:45 p.m. Free pizza will be served, and prizes will be given to winners. A poetry slam is a competitive event in which poets are given three minutes to perform their original work. The most intriguing thing about a poetry slam is the audience involvement. The event is designed for the audience to react vocally and openly to all aspects of the show, including the poet's performance, the scores from the five judges and the host's banter. Explicit content and language may be part of some of the performances. The visiting poet/host for the event is Guante, a two-time National Poetry Slam champion, from Minneapolis, Minn. He is also a hip hop artist, social justice activist and educator. The Poetry Slam is sponsored by the DSU English Club with assistance from the College of Arts and Sciences, Office of Diversity Services, and Student Activities.
